These are awesome. Look very legitimate, appear very professional, and have to say they look more real than my REAL security cameras (these are just more noticeable, which is why I got them; to grab attention).Okay, so let me clear some things up as I read a lot of confusion in past reviews.First off, you remove the shade/shield on top of the camera to access the battery cover. You literally slide the shield forward or backward, and it does so with ease. You’ll immediately see a rectangular battery door that you’ll remove to insert two AA batteries. No real secret buried in Egypt to figure this out, but hopefully this information helps whoever may need it. Also… be advised that these do NOT come with batteries neither installed nor included in the box, so be sure to have two AA batteries per camera ready.Now, the infrared lights light up as SOON as the batteries are inside. There is NO on/off switch. They will light up autmatically. You may think that yours is defective if you install the batteries in a well-lit room (like my office with florescent lights) – but DON’T BE ALARMED – just step into a dark or poorly – lit room and face the cameras. They DO light up, they’re just not as bright as depicted in the photos, since it gives you the impression they light up very bright and in broad daylight; this is not the case.. however, they are bright enough to see if you look at them in the evening and definitely while looking directly at them at night.None of mine had a “blinking red light,” however I was going to cover them if they did anyhow. Everybody knows that security cameras don’t have a blinking Rudolph light, so I’m glad mine don’t blink. Not sure if they’re defective, or maybe they just were improperly advertised. Don’t care, I don’t suggest you get ones with a blinking red light anyhow. I would also suggest you buy some red and black wiring if you’re placing these cameras someplace within 10-12 feet of view, considering they may appear questionable. I have mine mounted at the ceiling of a 25 foot wall, so nobody is going to notice red and black wiring. If I buy some for my home, which I’m now seriously considering, I will definitely have some red and black wiring glued to the back of the cameras to go along the power cord these come with. Looks very real and intimidating. I advise you do the same.Overall HIGHLY recommend. Such an inexpensive way to deter any suspicious activity.
